What happens at the end of kali yuga? The vaishnav mythology speaks of coming of 'kalki avatara'. I know its not a flood, for that happens at end of a manvantara...

Namaste PD,

A very interesting topic! Just as reference material for this discussion, I would like to quote a few relevant passages from the Satyarth Prakash:

In Chapter 9, Swamiji wrote:
Time is divided into four yugas or cycles:

Satya Yuga (Golden Age).........................1,728,000 years
Dvaapara Yuga (Silver Age).....................1,296,000 years
Tretaa Yuga (Bronze Age)...........................864,000 years
Kali Yuga (Iron or Dark Age).......................432,000 years

Total.......................................................4,320,000 years

Thus 4,320,000 years make one Chaturyugi.

2,000 Chaturyugi is 8,640,000,000 years and is equal to an Ahoratra [Kalpa] (Day and Night)

30 Ahoratras equal one Maasa (Month)

12 Maasas equal one Prantakal (Period of Emancipation)

In Capter 8, Swamiji wrote:
After Mahaapralaya - Grand Dissolution - the next Creation starts with A'kaash. In Minor Dissolution (cycles) when disintegration does not reach the stage of Vaayu (gas) and A'kash (ether or space) but reaches only that of Agni (electricity or fire) the next creation begins with Agni. But when after dissolution in which even Agni - electricity - is not disintegrated, the next creation begins with Liquids (Aap).

In other words the next Creation starts at where the previous dissolution ends.

As far as I remember - and I could be wrong - Swamiji never referred directly to Manvantaras, though the above passage could be seen as an indirect reference to dissolution through flooding.

Any other relevant material on this topic would be appreciated.

Namaste PD,

To be honest, I don't have anything concrete as to what will happen. Confused

There will certainly be wars and catastrophes of global proportions, but we can be sure there won't be an incarnation or avatar of God coming to save mandkind. Regardless, however, of what exactly will happen, we can expect the Kali Yuga to end with the dawn of a new Satya Yuga or Golden Age.

I know that's not really a satisfying answer. I will look around and see if I can find more information.
