International Workshop On Vedic Pandits' Training
OM!
NAMASTE!
Maharshi Dayananda Gurukula
New York City
joyfully announces:
International Workshop On Vedic Pandits' Training
Dr. Satish Prakash has just completed writing a 550-page text [with 24 color pictures] that seeks to explain the Philosophy, Psycholygy and Procedure of the traditional Sixteen Sanskaars and of other non-traditional Ceremonies. The text is called Arya Sanskaar Pradeep and is based on the Sanskaar Vidhi of Maharshi Dayananda Saraswati.
The time has now come for Arya Samaj to MORE VIGOROUSLY focus on the spiritual, religious and cultural needs of Aryas/Hindus all over the English-speaking World, and so we must provide training for more people to become proficient in interpreting and performing Vedic Rites, Rituals and Sacraments. Toward this end, Maharshi Dayananda Gurukula is calling on Aryas all over the world to advertize this Training, and actively recruit would-be Cultural Leaders so that we can all take the Message of Rishi Dayananda, Veda and Arya Samaj to as many families as possble.
Arya Sanskaar Pradeep, as a printed/published text, will be available anytime after the end of May. It is advisable that you acquire a copy before the actual dates of the Training Workshop so that you may be better prepared for the Training.

Namaste,
I wasn't aware of this thread.
Sunita, I won't be there. I might log in to see what's taking place.
Have fun, Amrita. Hopefully when you get back, you'll share with us what you would have learnt.
Namaste,
Devo. |

Okay Amrita.
I will log on as well. I didn't buy the book yet.....i am hoping to come to Toronto early next year....to do some shopping. I wanted to go to New York for the training but unfortunately couldn't get time off. Its been 9 years since living here...i need to get in touch with my oldself.
Its so hard to see things positive because i don't feel that way. I am a lost soul...just forgot what home felt like. _________________ Namaste! |

Well, good to know you will log on as well. The book is wonderful. I think you should try your best to get a copy of it. I am sure you won't regret it. Well, don't worry .......... hopefully, logging on and being a part of it through the streaming video would help you feel more at home . See you on there. Namaste,
Amrita, I tuned in during lunch on the first day, and I heard you singing the Bhajan 'Sharan Me Aayee' in Kuch Kuch Hota Hai style! ...
It was beautifully done.
Shish, I think they were having connection issues. Wait a few minutes after each failed attempt, and then try again.

I'm very happy to hear that you are going to the Workshop. Please do tell us about everything you learn there.
I tried to log on to view the video, but I am being requested to enter a name and password to do so. I tried my normal password, but it doesn't seem to be working. |
Namaste Shishyaji . We were having technical problems ... don't know exactly what happened. Hopefully, each day's program will be saved in the media library soon (don't know when yet though) and then you can have a look at them. The requesting of a name and password is for the administrator . Just curious, what time were you trying to log in? The reason I ask is because if it were too early, you will not be allowed to log in. Hope for better luck next time. It feels good to be back . _________________ Krinvanto Vishvam Aaryam

I agree. This happened to me once when I tried to log in before the session began. Afterwards, I was successfully logged in but it seems that Shishyaji still had problems. I wish I could help but I am not as technical as most of you are . _________________ Krinvanto Vishvam Aaryam

Namaste Prabhatji. Sorry to hear that it's not working but lucky you! You can still see me and hear me singing. You can go to the website (www.aryasamajtoday.org), click on "Previously Recorded Program" and Windows Media Player or Real Player should open up, and you should see me singing and playing the harmonium. I really hope this works. You can fast forward the program also because I sang after the havan was done (not Poojaneeya ) ...... I did a solo. Tell me how it is and please do ask me if you need more help!

Namaste Mitraji. Thank you very much for the welcome. It was an experience like no other. I have never experienced such a wonderful workshop in my entire life. It was a combination of good (in many ways), educational (very much so), and funny . _________________ Krinvanto Vishvam Aaryam

Namaste Shavaun,
In some Arya Samaj communities, that is the formal attire of a purohit. It's not necessary, though.
Did you watch some of the broadcast of the workshop, Shavaun? If so, feel free to share your impressions... _________________ Namaste,

I am happy to hear that the workshop was a success. I was able to listen to some of the broadcasts over Arya Samaj Radio and it sounded like everyone was really enjoying the presentation by Dr. Satish. I'm still having problems logging on, but I'm sure the technical difficulties will work themselves out sooner or later. |
Namaste Shishyaji. I am glad that you were able to listen to the broadcasts over ASIR. I agree with you, we were really enjoying the presentation by Gurujee. I am also hoping there will be no technical problems pretty soon.
| Quote: | | I wanted to ask about the book that was used at the workshop. Can you tell us a little about it? Is it a translation of the Sanskaar Vidhi or more of a new interpretation and presentation? Also, are there still copies available? |
Sure, I can tell you about the book. It is a translation of the Sanskaar Vidhi (each Sanskaar is explained in detail), as well as many additional Karmas - ceremonies, as opposed to Sanskaars (sacraments). These ceremonies were included by Gurujee because of the emerging needs of our society. I know I need to explain what I mean by this. Some examples would make it better to understand. Ceremonies like Vaag Daan (Engagement), Haldwaan Yajya (Dye-Rubbing before Wedding), Punar Vivaah Karma (Remarriage), Griha Pravesh (House Opening), Grihasth Nitya Karma (Duties of Householders), Shoka Divas (Funeral Wake), Griha Shuddhi (Purifying the Home After Funeral), and Punya Tithi (Memorial Service). These ceremonies are performed by many but there is no "uniformed" way on how to do them. This is why Gurujee has added them into this book, and to also make sure that everyone has an idea what should be done at a certain ceremony. In other words, people won't do the same ceremony many different ways. It will help in bringing about some form of uniformity, and avoiding confusion, among Purohits especially. Yes, there are copies still available . Let me know if you need any additional information.
| Quote: | | Also, I agree that there is a great wealth of knowledge to be had by watching the Havan recordings. I have seen many of the pravachans and they frequently touch on very important and thought provoking topics. I recommend them to everyone here. |
I couldn't agree more .
| Quote: | (Besides, you get to see and hear Armita Ji sing some lovely bhajans! )
 |
Thank you very much . _________________ Krinvanto Vishvam Aaryam

Namaste Shavaun. There is a reason behind it. Pardon me for using this term, but hair is a very sexual thing (this is what my Gurujee said). Therefore, when being in Mandir, we, the students, are always told that we should be well covered. _________________ Krinvanto Vishvam Aaryam
